About Department of Public Works
The Village of Goshen Department of Public Works maintains approximately 20 miles of the streets within the Village including the repair and repaving of roads, maintenance of roadway drainage, installation and maintenance of street signs and the painting of crosswalks, curbs and striping.
The DPW is also responsible for all solid waste programs including the collection of trash, recycling, yard waste, and Spring Cleanup.
The DPW maintains the Village’s Municipal Storm Sewer System. Bryan Morgiewicz is the Stormwater Management Program Coordinator. For questions about stormwater or to report stormwater contamination or potential violations, please contact 845.294.6288.
We also perform setup for most major events within the Village and breakdown after they end.
The DPW manages streetlights including both those owned by Orange and Rockland on electrical poles and the Period Streetlighting posts owned by our Village.
We maintain all Village owned public lawns and landscaping at Village Hall, the Public Square, the Webster Brick Park and Triangle Park including the watering of flowers at the monuments, planters and hanging baskets throughout the Village and trimming or removal of street trees in the Village.
DPW is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of all sewer and water mains throughout the Village and includes the bi-annual flushing of fire hydrants and pressure cleaning of sewers. Our garage repairs and maintains Village owned vehicles and equipment across the various Village Departments.
The DPW also includes our Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant personnel, who operate and maintain our Well Systems in Wallkill, the Water Treatment Plant on Lower Reservoir Road, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Cypress Road. The Department’s normal hours of operation are 6:30am until 3pm Monday through Friday.
The Village of Goshen has partnered with Recycle Coach through funding from Orange County to help with our recycling efforts.
In the event of an after-hours emergency, please call the Village of Goshen Police Department at 845-294-7988.
